Sandhya Devanathan becomes the new India head of Meta, know these important things about her

Days after Ajit Mohan resigned from Meta as its India head, social media leading company Meta has appointed Sandhya Devanathan as its India head. Meta owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Welcoming her as the India head, Marne Levine, Meta’s Chief Business Officer, said in a statement that they are delighted to welcome Sandhya Devanathan to the “continuing growth of Meta in India”.

“I am delighted to welcome Sandhya as our new leader for India. Sandhya has a proven track record of growing businesses, building exceptional and inclusive teams, driving product innovation and building strong partnerships We are excited about Meta’s continued growth under his leadership.”

Let us tell you that Devanathan has 22 years of experience and has worked in the banking, payment and technology sector and is a global business leader. He completed his MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi in the year 2000, as mentioned in his LinkedIn profile.

Devanathan took over as head of Meta’s India business at a volatile time for the company, which recently laid off more than 11,000 employees, or 13 percent of its workforce. Let us tell you that Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg’s expensive bet on the Metaverse project brought the company’s total cost to fifth place in the third quarter.

That caused investors to dump Meta’s shares, pushing it down 20 percent and wiping out about $67 billion in the company’s market value, marking its fourth straight decline in quarterly profit.
